Key Stage 1
We firmly believe that children learn best through play and exploration. This approach develops determined, resilient, empathetic individuals, who learn through interactions with one another, with adults, and with their environment.
At Mount Street this approach shapes children’s experiences in our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with a curriculum that is rich, inspiring and broad, which provides all children with a wide range of first hand, play-based learning experiences.
We believe this approach should continue when children move on from EYFS, and that Year 1 should be a step on from where they end in Reception.
Throughout each year of Key Stage 1, teaching and learning evolves and changes in line with children’s development, so they are ready to for each next step. For our children, the final step is their move to Year 3 at a separate junior school.
