Applying for a place
Starting Nursery
A parent can register their child for a Nursery place at any time before the child’s third birthday. We currently offer 15 and 30-hour funded places as well as paid Nursery places for children from the term after their third birthday.
You can find more information about applying for a place in the MSA Nursery section of our website.
Please be aware that admission to our Nursery does not guarantee an automatic place in Reception at our school. Applications for Reception must be made on a separate application through Lincolnshire County Council. You can find more information about this process below.
Starting school in Reception
Children start in our Reception classes the September following their fourth birthday.
Online applications are made via Lincolnshire County Council’s School Admissions using the Parent Portal. You can also contact the Admissions team on 01522 782030 or email schooladmissions@lincolnshire.gov.uk.
In-year applications
We admit children between the ages of four and seven (places permitting). In-year applications can be made at any time. If you would like to apply for a place during the school year in any year group, you will need to do so through the Lincolnshire School Admissions team.
The ‘find your nearest school’ tool on the LCC website is also very useful:
Admissions policies and procedures
For more information on admissions in our school, please see our admissions policies on our Policies page. The Admissions Policy is reviewed by Anthem Schools Trust on an annual basis.
Appealing for a place at our academy
There is right of appeal to an Independent Appeals Panel for unsuccessful applicants relating to admissions at age 5 (statutory school age) or above. Appeals should be made, by completing the 'MSA School Place Appeals Form' found at the bottom of this page and returned to Lincoln Carlton Academy, within twenty (20) school days of the date of refusal.
Please be aware that the regulations under Section I of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 limit the size of an infant class (a class in which the majority of children will reach the age of 5, 6 or 7 during the school year) to 30 pupils per class teacher. Admissions over this limit are only permitted in very limited circumstances.
Appealing a school place is different from applying for a school place.
You can only appeal for a place at the schools you listed on your application form.
