Computing
Computing is a vital life skill and at Mount Street we equip pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to successfully manage in an increasingly digital world.
Children learn and practice computing skills in dedicated sessions and can then apply these skills across the curriculum to enhance other subjects. As part of the computing curriculum, the children are also taught how to stay safe online.
Each class from Nursery to Year 2, has access to tablets and SMART boards as part of every lesson. In EYFS, specific skills that require modelling and/or when new technology is introduced is delivered through adult-led sessions. Children also have opportunities to use technology on a regular basis to enhance their skills independently.
In KS1 the computing curriculum follows the National Computing Curriculum and is delivered through weekly computing lessons where in addition to the tablets and SMART board technology available daily, they have access to further technology e.g. laptops and programmable toys.
You can find a full description of our computing curriculum intent, implementation and impact in the Quality of Education (QED) document below.
